Ethiopian Electric Utility distributes and sells electricity across the country — connecting homes, businesses and public services to the national grid.
Who We Are

Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) is a fully government-owned public enterprise, established in 2014 following the restructuring of the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo).
EEU is responsible for universal electrification programmes, the administration of the 45/66 kV sub-transmission and distribution networks, and the distribution and sale of electric power to customers throughout the country.
The utility is working to extend electricity supply, and the infrastructure behind it, to every part of the country — serving customers through 13 regional offices, 26 districts and more than 580 customer service centers.

Message from the CEO
Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) is more than just a provider of electricity — it is the backbone of the nation's economic growth.
Our services power industries, drive technological advancements, support tourism, agriculture, and mining, and ultimately serve as a foundation for Ethiopia's overall development. It is an honor to lead an organization that plays such a critical role in the daily lives of millions and in the socio-economic transformation of our country.
Significant progress has been made in expanding electricity access, modernizing our systems, and improving operational efficiency. However, we recognize that there is still much to be done to meet the expectations of our customers and stakeholders. Power outages and service quality issues remain key concerns, and we are fully aware of the impact they have on our valued customers.
Moving forward, our priority is to enhance service reliability, improve customer satisfaction, and strengthen stakeholder engagement. Transparency and accountability will remain at the core of our operations, ensuring that every service we provide is efficient, effective, and customer-centered.
By working together with integrity and dedication, we can build a modern, customer-focused utility that meets the energy needs of our nation and earns the trust of the people we serve.
